Huge protest in Hong Kong by those demanding more democracy. Reported Crowds of more than a half million peacefully converged in the streets of Hong Kong. The Chinese goverment is resolute in their insistance to take away self rule, our the American Goverment show very little support for any emerging Democracy. Maybe the Bush administration is afraid of upseting Walmart. Its amazing how we can go to war to thrust Democracy onn folks who don't want it, yet we can't even give a modicom of support to those who risk so much.The United States said it respected the people's right to seek political reforms.
"It is up to the Hong Kong people and the government of Hong Kong to determine the pace and scope of democratization," Susan N. Stevenson, a spokeswoman for the U.S. consulate, said by telephone.
How about a trade boycott! or something meaningful! Why is China different than Cuba? Hypocytes!
