Red Sox 'Curse will die this year ?

Mike Celizic Predicts That the curse of the Bambino will die this year, to be rewplaced by the Curse of the Zim.
Instead, I am here for the first time announcing that there is a counter curse at work upon the Yankees this year, and it’s more powerful than the Curse of the Bambino.

It’s the Curse of Zim.

Here’s the deal. Don Zimmer, who once managed the Red Sox and last year took a swing at Pedro Martinez and walks around with a plate in his head and was once compared to a gerbil, was a critical part of nine straight Yankee playoff appearances and four World Championships. He was Joe Torre’s confidant, bench coach, and right-hand man.

And last year, he quit the Yankees in disgust, chased out by the ogre of the Bronx, George M. Steinbrenner III. It was like Darth Vader abandoning Yoda. You can’t do it without something bad eventually happening to you.

Let us hope he is right ...

I think you are right. I've done some research. Zimmer was the Yankees' good luck charm. Pedro Martinez tried to kill Zim by pulling his head off because he was too lucky for the Yankees. Over the winter Steinbrenner put Zim on waivers because he wanted a younger good luck charm, but the Red Sox outbid him (as they did with Schilling) and obtained Pedro's midget for cash and a troll to be named later. Sure enough, with Zim gone, and Boston with their newly acquired lucky midget, the Yankees lost in the ALCS and Boston is on the verge of a World Series title. An interesting sidelight to an busy season, and one that will be featured in an upcoming book on Red Sox teambuilding called "Smallball".
