Katrina bearing down on the big easy
Katrina looks like it is heading straight to New Orleans. Living on the sandbar known as Galveston, I watch these things pretty closely. They scare the crap outa me. This storm has the potential to be a worst case scenario. A category 5 with up to a 30 ft storm surge hitting a city that sits below sea level is a potential disaster of catastrophic proportions. There is always a chance that this storm will not live up to its full potential, but even the most optimistic scenario is going to result in lots of deaths and tremendous property damage. Winds are now reported at 75 mph, and she is expected to make landfall tomorrow. The folks that stay are in for a worse time than those who are evacuating and having to travel for hours trying to find a place to stay. All we can do watch, wait and pray.Update:
There are those who claim that they did not know Katrina was going to hit New Orleans so severly. I Posted this at 9:30 AM, Sunday, the day before it hit with full force. I am just a know-nothing blogger.
