Cronyism and Miers
George Bush's legacy is going to be noted with some accomplishment, some good handling of bad situations, and by lots of nepotism and cronyism. Elizabeth Cheney, Michael Powell and disgraced former FEMA Chief Michael Brown. Its been pretty obvious that president Bush doesn't have a problem appointing poorly qualified people if they are well connected to people he likes. In fact it is sorta how he got his job. This time he has got some attention over his tendency to select the well connected over the talented. Its not as though there is a lack of talent out there. Rhymes with Right has a few suggestions.Come to think of it Bush wasn't that qualified when he ran for president The governer of Texas isn't exactly a powerful leadership positition. His main qualifications were that he was well connected, and that Daddy was once a fairly decent president. Maybe its only natural he feels this way about his friends and family its worked for him personally pretty well.
