Our Night on the Town

Sometimes I'm asked, why do I insist on living in Galveston. Yesterday was a good reason why. The weather was beautiful and Equality and I decided to go to the Lutheran Church's Oktober Fest. Good food, good bier, and we got to meet some friends we haven't seen in a while. I think we spent a total of $20.00 dollars, for the 2 of us, so it was pretty cheap. On our way out we met up with this fella. Although he wasn't real thrilled about giving me a ride, He does have a liking for chocolate oatmeal cookies.

Afterwards we went to Stuart Beach where the Parks Dept Arranged a makeshift drive-in theater. They set up a big makeshift screen and the sound came over the car's fm radio. The featured movie was "Jaws" A great movie to see at the beach on Halloween weekend. The leader film was a locally made documentary "Miles to Surf" It was about an hour long and about inventiveness of surfers. Although unlikely that I'll ever get on a surf board, I would love to go and watch these guys surf a wake for 20 minutes at a time. Its called tanker surfing, and Galveston Bay is where the action is.
Next weekend is Biker Weekend, and the island will host lots of expensive motorcycles and their owners. It had to be postponed last month because of Rita, and the evacuation. The venders and visitors all had a good time last year, and hopefully it will be just as successful this year.
