From Pajamas Media to OSM to Pajamas Media

Whats in a name change? The name Pajamas Media suggest a bunch of bloggers getting together and implied that maybe we would get some creative rebelious fun bloggers to present us with opinions comentary and news that the MSM wouldn't cover. Instead we got Open Sourced Media, llc. or OSM. OSM premiered and it had the look and read of what its name suggest something boring, uninspired and lacking lacking color, and what could be found at many MSM sights. Its really a shame because the people behind OSM are talented and have something to say. Laurence Simon over at This Blog is Full of Crap, finds that they have been having problems getting things right. What seems to have happened is that they have become the corporate identity of the Main Stream Media.

Now they have decided that they will go back to Pajamas Media. The shame is that the reasoning is not of attitude or content, but for typical corporate reasoning.

We went from being www.pajamasmedia.com to OSM™ Media, LLC, the OSM being short for Open Source Media. And oh, what a drubbing we took. Many, many readers pointed out to us that OSM™ was an oxymoron; the open source tech community expressed concern; and a very fine gentleman named Christopher Lydon at Open Source (www.radioopensource.org) politely pointed out that we might be trampling on his space. (We’re sending him a pair of warm, fuzzy slippers, a heartfelt apology, and his name back, as we speak.)
I see no reason to believe that they will live up to sum of the talent these folks represent. Its a shame and I wish them all lots of success, but I don't see them as the best of the blogs, but to me the site is still just another MSM without much distinction. The sum is less than the the individual parts.
