The Right to Blog
Blogging is under attack. There those who believe that the first amendment rights are conditional. That political commentary and reporting should be done only when supervised by the appropriate goverment authorities. The problem is that it has been ruled by the courts that any time a blogger posts as part of a political debate or in support of a candidate it is just like making a political donation. Those in power do not want an unfettered blogoshere putting out information and analysis that they don't control. If the first ammendment protections mean anything at all Online Freedom of Speech Act must be passed. Otherwise there are going to be a whole lot of felons because I don't think that many of us will be silenced.Update:
Rhymes with Right is taking a stand.
Some clearly will fall silent. Others, including this site, will continue to write and publish what we believe until we are silenced by the FEC’s jackbooted thugs. They will be prying this keyboard from my cold, dead fingers.When push comes to shove, there will be many of us who will not back down.
