RIP: Charlton Heston
Charlton Heston died yesterday. We live in a richer and freer world because of him. Mr. Heston was much more than a movie actor, but an activist in making us a better nation. He was an active Kennedy Democrat and a Reagan Republican, He marched with Martin Luther King and headed up the NRA for five years. Charles Cotton has a tribute.Was Charlton Heston merely a celebrity figurehead? Hardly! He was the consummate patriot who was always been willing to put the rights of others before his own interests; one who worked through his own physical pain and exhaustion to carry the fight for freedom to anyone who would listen.He is in a special place now.
